It depends on the maturity and such of the kid and his friends and stuff. When I was 16 and 17 years old my dad let my friends and I have small parties and drink and stuff, he just took keys when people came and woke up in the morning and put them on the kitchen table. He understood it was normal for high schoolers to do and gave us a safe place to do it. What it comes down to is some parents are more understanding and open to different substances and experimenting with them.

Just from being in high school and partying and stuff, the kids who parents let them smoke and drink never really got in any kind of trouble. The ones who had parents overbearing them and grounding them for it were the ones who would sneak out, drink, smoked, and drive back home and did stupid shit like that.

I'm 18 now. About to graduate high school in a week. So this is all recent. All I know is I have a smart fairly mature group of friends. Most of our parents know we drink and party, I can honestly say I don't think it ever would have been an issue knowing who I hang out with.

I get what you're saying though.

Yeah I know. I'm as safe as can be when dealing with an illegal substance or underage drinking though. There is always risk, especially at my age where I live, but hell gotta have fun right? I'm relatively safe and cautious about this shit though, it's all good.

Also of note is the fact that your prefrontal cortex doesn't fully develop until your early- to mid- 20's, and it's unclear how cannabis affects brain development. Usually, chemical interference in that process is undesirable.

I think it's a mistake to think that you younger girls and guys are going to completely abstain, but all the same it's important to know the risks of what you're doing.

Toke safely, toke responsibly!

Nothing annoys me more than the teenagers in this sub. But it's not because they smoke, or because they want their parents to accept that they smoke. It's just because the content they submit and support is almost always cheesy, and it doesn't contribute or make the sub more interesting.

That to the side, I think every single thing about this post is completely wrong, overly dramatic and bad advice.

Kids: There is nothing wrong with you smoking. There is nothing wrong with you wishing that your parents would accept the fact that you smoke. Your parents will not go to jail if you smoke, and they won't go to jail if anyone finds out that they let you smoke. That's not reality, that's scare tactics and reaching into the realm of things that are beyond unlikely. You do not have to move out of your parents house or get their permission before you smoke. You are a teenager, everyone knows that you will do rebellious things, that you'll drink or smoke or party or come home late. It is expected of you and it's completely normal to do these things, and don't let anyone tell you that it isn't. It is. Don't let someone scare you with an irrational outlook on what could happen. None of that is going to happen.

But, it's also unlikely that your parents will ever agree to you getting high. They won't, because they are your parents and kids aren't supposed to use drugs. Yes, we know you will use drugs anyway but it's silly to expect that your parents are just going to let you go nuts and get as high as you want all the time. Don't bother trying to convince them, it comes across as even more immature. Just smoke your weed, keep it to yourself and before you know it, you'll be 18. You are a teenager and it is normal to smoke and drink (safely), even if you're not really old enough to handle it.. this is the time where people learn and experiment. Your parents are not going to go to jail, that's just incorrect.

Also, you will not lose your FAFSA grants / financial aid if you get caught. That is not how it works. FAFSA will take your grant if you get caught on school property (school zone) or have a distribution conviction. Don't do anything stupid to get caught and none of this is an issue anyway. But no, your financial aid isn't at risk and neither are your parents. YOU are at risk of getting caught and if you do, you can go to jail or more likely get stuck on probation and be grounded for eternity. But it's not like some kind of life and death thing you should hide in fear from. You're a kid, so be a kid. Adults for the most part already know you're going to do these kind of things, don't worry about what we think, just be careful and use your brain.

All I cam add is that it's a sad day for humanity when it's teenagers blindly obey their parents.
