1st attempt
Hi all.
I wanted to get some advise and insight on my first batch. I am using the traditional sweet kit on Austin Homebrew and started it 2 days ago at about noon. I used wyeast and the additive along with a pill and tablet that were in there. I only gave my wyeast about 20 min. Before adding it to the batch (5 gal.). And this morning it still isn't bubbling. I went ahead and tried to get some more oxygen in there. I'll see where its at when I get home. Any thoughts or tips for now? 15 lb of honey; 5 gal of water; its in a dark moderate temp environment.

The pill or tablet might have been a campden tablet. Campden kills yeast so you might have to pitch more of the same kind of yeast again
Wow, I feel dumb. I think your right. I should really research the ingredients they send with it better before dumping everything in. But, I did just get done pitching some more yeast into it, so hopefully it will get going. Do you think the campden tablet will be too much for the second pitch of yeast to survive?
When I use campden I wait 24 hours or more before I pitch the yeast. At least you made sure that your must was clean from wild yeast. As long as you wait at least 24 hours I think you'll be fine
Did your kit come with a backup packet of dry yeast, such as Lanvin or Red Star?
Yeah, it actually came with 2 packs of red star. Each being enough for 5 gallons.
