So who lives within earshot of the siege going on in Northeast?

Cops are blowin' shit up.

Hello, I wrote the article on this while covering the night desk downtown (typically I work in Clackamas County). The police have extremely tight-lipped about what's going on here, so details are scarce.

The latest: http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2014/06/swat_activity_rocks_ne_portlan.html

Thanks for the update. That's a little unnerving.

Personally, I'm betting on zombie outbreak... it's the only logical conclusion.

I do. Cops have had the street barricaded off since around 5 when I was out for my jog. Helicopter has been going non stop as well. Still at it at 1:30am.

Saw this at around 915 coming out for dinner w my sister. Didn't realize the magnitude of the situation. Kinda crazy.

So after coming for a welfare check "several suspicious circumstances" made them decide they needed to fire multiple teargas canisters into the house? Must of been hella suspicious circumstances...

It's a homicide investigation. Police have a suspect and were outside her home, but weren't getting any response from inside. They didn't know if she had barricaded herself into her home, so they gassed it. What else would they do? Knock and the door and ask "Excuse me miss, by any chance are you a murderer?"

No need for the SWAT team

I don't mean to be a dick but unless you know the specifics of this investigation, who are you to say what's excessive? The police are in a better position than you to make that judgment call. This Koin article states that the house contained many "security features" that made the scene extremely difficult to secure. Maybe her house was booby trapped. Maybe she owned a fucking arsenal. No one on this thread knows. I hate this anti-police attitude - every time the police use the slightest bit of force all of a sudden everyone on Reddit works for fucking Internal Affairs. We don't have all the answers, and we shouldn't jump to conclusions before we have all the facts.

I'm gonna guess the cops doing the welfare check saw signs of a meth lab. The photo they released of the person they are looking for looks like a mug shot.
