Can we talk Tinker counters?
So, I used to love this hero - however after losing to him incessantly over the last week because my team flat out refuses to pressure him or pick accordingly, I would like to know how reddit deals with him.
In particular, single heroes I can pick, I usually only play solo or with 1 other, so I'm seriously struggling with actually rallying team-mates to do anything about it.
Initial thoughts:
-
Pugna's ward - destroys Tinker if ignored, but getting in a situation to actually use it in a 5v5 teamfight is hard (how are those lanes boys? ;) )
-
Ward the ancients ASAP
-
Silences. But this won't matter if you don't have initiation/can't see him because he's in the trees
-
The only viable way I see to play against a hero with ridiculous turtle, amazing comeback potential, flash farming and damage... is to actually shut him down EARLY.
-
Vision heroes. Beastmaster, maybe even Nighstalker with Aghs.
-
Quick blink initators (i.e. farm 10 minute blink -> push)
-
Avoid pubs for a month/play Captain's Draft
-
Cry and farm

I've got 250 Tinker games, I'm basically Satan. I'm going to keep this short.
Heroes
Gameplay
It's so obvious, but stuns, this hero is so squishy and rarely buys bkb. Usually Tinker is the only farmed on their team and he's so easy to lock down most of the times.
Don't even think it's a good idea to 5 man blademail and stand in march, it's not good or smart.
It can be hard to gank a Tinker after a few levels, so gank him early. If your mid is someone like a SF and Invoker who can't really help with ganks, you're straight up going to lose.
Stick together, obviously.
Tank up, carry urns, meks, tranquils, late game hearts. He's good at harrassing and instantly killing you, if you survive the initial burst then you're probably going to win the team fight.
I'd also suggest Wraith King and Centaur Warrunner -- they can survive Tinker's burst and kill him with blink + stun.
Also, it's a pretty good list, but no list would be complete without mentioning Magnus, who has two ways of cancelling a channeling Tinker. He's also one of the easier mids for supports to gank for.
