I have too many dates...

I just broke it off with my ex fiance three months ago and I've just been inundated with dated. I really need to be focusing on getting my job and living situation but I get asked out constantly and I can't lie - I mean I'm also trying to get over my ex. Sometimes, though, I find myself on dates with someone I know it isn't going to go anywhere.

The real problem is that I end up overbooked. Right now I'm seeing a few different people. There's the billioniare that's too old for me but hell yachts are fun, the bald house flipper with the harley (love bikes!), the outdoorsy one who is 6"8, the school teacher with the awesome hair and green eyes, and the nurses aid with the kid who I actually really like. I feel like I'm always blowing one of them off and I feel bad about it - just not keeping my engagemets, but between work and commute and everything in between it's hard to juggle that many hearts!

I need to make some serious decisions, but I'm not ready to be with just one person. I just don't know how long I can handle being with this many people! I tried explaining this to a friend, he told me I need to get uglier.

Seems like you should focus on being single for a while until you're ready for dating again. I know what you mean about feeling bad for turning people down, but you need to put yourself first. Pursue what you want, as opposed to accepting others who pursue you.

You're right. Probably a lot of it is boredom. A lot of it is that most of them are really nice/cool/fun people who I enjoy being around. I just get overbooked and overwhelmed and then they all get bummed because let's be real, none of them are particularly special to me or else I'd've made a commitment. I'm in the process of cutting back, but then I get the whole "But, why ME?" Ugh... Idk. I just don't have the time and energy to be a supportive and loving person to you? It sounds like a shitty answer, but it's the truth.

I have a fair amount of male friends. The truth is that only one of them isn't in love with me, and that's primarily since we've known each other since we were 5. I'm really wary of making male "friends" at this point.

It's such a pain in the ass. They're nice, but you feel like you're drowning in dates and everyone starts to feel the same. Trust me, you'll feel better cutting it down, it's like you can breathe again.

You could also try OKC if you haven't already. Easier to filter.

OK Cupid, the online dating site, which also has its own subreddit, r/okcupid.

I know this is three months later but your friend is right. Don't shower, don't wear makeup. You'll get asked out less. It won't stop completely, but it will happen less.

I like to be brutally honest with people. I know it's hard to be what feels like "not nice" but it's better for everyone involved if you're real.
