Apple's NDA, Yosemite, and iOS 8: /r/AppleHelp's official stance

Meta

UPDATE: With today's release of iOS 8, your iOS 8 questions and discussion are now more than welcome! The prohibition on Yosemite still stands, however.

There is a rumor being bandied about by several blogs lately that either because of a minor change in Apple's NDA, or because of the public beta, that Apple's NDA has been lifted on iOS 8 and Yosemite. I'd like to correct this now and give you all r/AppleHelp's official stance on the matter.

Apple's NDA has not been lifted. There has been a very minor change to the agreement that allows it's participants to publicly discuss anything that Apple themselves discussed during the 2014 WWDC keynote. Nothing else. The NDA is still in firm effect, requiring anyone who's agreed to it to remain silent on the vast majority of what's happening behind the doors of the beta.

This presents a problem because in order to diagnose or correct a problem with iOS 8 or Yosemite, we must discuss things that were not necessarily made public knowledge. Since we have no wish to violate Apple's EULA, that leaves us with only one piece of advice we can safely give: Return to iOS 7 or Mavericks.

A quick search of Google or Reddit will turn up many places that are willing to violate Apple's NDA, but we are not among them. Thank you for your patience, and rest assured that as soon as the software is publicly released, we will begin troubleshooting it with you all.
