There was a mod I played a few years back where before your armies met, each army would send out a champion to duel and the loser would suffer a morale loss and a few units would leave the fight. Does anyone remember which one this was

A Clash of Kings (ACoK), Prophesy of Pendor & Anno Domini 1257 are all pretty good.
Prophesy of Pendor is my favourite one and the one I've spent the most time on but I never liked either Game of Thrones mod and 1257 isn't that fun though I do like lots of it's features like playing as a unit after you died and building manors/keeps
1257 is fun and has lots of cool stuff like the flag bearers but it doesn't quite have the atmosphere of Prophesy of Pendor or Brytenwalda
The brytenwalda mod allows the duel challenge before each battle. Isn't always guaranteed to take place as there may be no challenger, or will auto resolve as you losing (hate it when that happens), but generally you duel the opposing lord.
Yeah this is the one that I thought it was so I have been playing it all week.
