Can someone explain to me the excitement about the different Christmas blends?
I've never had any, but I always see people talking about Yule Log, and that other guy just posted a picture about something something Christmas Cheer. I assume there's a large fanbase for these "seasonal releases"? What's good? What's great? What should I look into buying?

Most companies will do some sort of seasonal aromatic that generally has a nice richness to it. McClelland does Holiday Spirit which I think is really good. But they also do Christmas Cheer which is a virginia flake made of some choice tobacco crops.
CC has shown to only improve with age (as do many VAs) so many people like to buy a couple of the new tins and some will search for last years tins if they have missed it.
Side note: Not all seasonal aromatics are created equal. The tin description may sound similar but I've heard that some seasonal blends are not worth the money. Do you research before you buy. I've never heard a good thing about a blend based after eggnog.
Nope, can't explain it. Fellow in the pipe club buys the Peterson's one every year, and every year ends up selling a 3/4 full tin to one of the aro smokers.
when I asked him why, he likes their pipes and is convinced one year they will turn out a good Xmas blend and how will he know to stock up on that one if he doesn't try it each year.
and another club member buys the McClelland's, but he likes their Christmas blends, which makes sense.
I could take cinnamon, but I don't care for pumpkin and some the other associated flavors they seem hung up on. No nutmeg, I don't do psychodelics. And Egg nog and tobacco...NOT. LOL Bah humbug!
I think you may even be able to find an eggnog aro to itch that disgusting need for holiday cheer.
I won't be joining the Christmas Cheer hype train either, but if someone recommends it I might steal a bit of theirs.
That's me all over... sampling a recommended blend, if I trust the recommendation. LOL I am never going to try Capt. Black's Cherry blend ever again, even if I have to dry out cornsilks to have somethin' to smoke. shades of smoking a children's flavored cough medicine, only more so. YECH!
mmm. All the medicine flavor and none of the calories.
Finally, a good screen name.
