[META] Subreddit suggestion: Recurring threads like, "what are you currently working on?"

Meta

Hi fellow modders!

I think it would be nice to have one or two recurring threads on this subreddit, for example

  • Feedback Friday
  • Screenshot Saturday / What Are You Currently Working On?

(inspired by Myll's suggestion from a while ago, which in turn was inspired by r/gamedev).

I have asked the moderators what they think about this idea. It seems they are okay with it provided there is enough interest in the community. So I ask you:

  • Would you like to have some recurring threads like this?

If so,

  • What kinds of threads would you like to see?
  • How often should they be created? Weekly? Monthly?

Thanks for reading this. Happy modding!

what we need is a questions thread and a requests thread every week, i think the front page should mostly be releases and discussion

I don't think that questions need to be all part of a single thread. I think that will get convoluted and questions will get buried. I find it great to be able to search the sub for old question threads which are similar to mine, it's like a little wiki

that's nice too i think. these could be added to the monthly/weekly thing.

i think a weekly thread is deprecable, i don't know how much work modders can do in just one week while modding is not the main job of anyone (i think). also, preparing a little demonstration for the mods could take some time when in a weekly basis, it's a lot of time for single people working. so we could end up with empty weeks.

if instead we do it monthly there will be almost eveytime something to show from everyone. and if you see it goes too big you can make it 2-times-a-month and so on...

also, wich formt should be used?

comments = mod submissions

or

numbered list of mods in the opening thread and comments open to random ppl?

EDIT: formatting (praise it's good now...)

Good point, a week is probably not enough to make substantial progress on a mod. I agree with your suggestion: Start with a monthly thread, and if it proves very popular then make it twice a month and proceed from there.

For the format I think we should just copy r/gamedev: The thread itself is just an invitation, "post screenshots of your game/mod and talk a bit about it". Then users reply to the thread with screenshots and details.

Thanks to everyone who has replied so far.

Do you know if these threads will be stickied?

I hope they will. I will try to contact the moderators about it later today.

I'm game. It would gather more interest in the sub too and we might be able to have custom game nights, where people from reddit can play/test our mod with us

Maybe weekly or fortnightly? Depends how often people are updating their mods. Fortnightly might be best for a lot of devs
