A present character
I'm extremely worried that the present story/interaction will be lacking like in Black Flag. Is anybody else eager to play as a present character?

The motto for unity is "make history". Its not "be present". What I'm saying is Assassin's Creed is about the past, the historical side. Not the present.

It actually is. Assassin's Creed consisted originally of a modern day "frame" story and a story in the past. I want to play Assassin's Creed. Not a game about the past.

Assassin's Creed is a game about the past. Having a frame story set in the present doesn't make it a game about the present. That's just a frame story and it's always rubbish in comparison. The Princess Bride was not a story about the kid from Wonder Years getting sick. That's just storytelling 101.
