[Build Ready] I think I've done my research to build a PC again/essentially complete overhaul. Been a lot of reading here so I'd like to get your opinions.
I last built a PC in 2004 so I could play Star Wars Empire at War (lol).
I also purchased a Gateway Desktop in 2010 so I could play Starcraft II. Was low on cash and it worked to use 18 months financing to get it all at once.
Since then I've gone through three laptops, the latter two large wastes of money to be able to have portable gaming and I have regretted that I let my roommate use my desktop the last two years we had lived together sinc e it was still more powerful than my $2K Dell XPS, which I was in denial about until I began using it again.
Anyway, now here I am I just want to buy it myself, Ive got the money and well I've already bought a few of the pieces to help motivate myself to buy the rest.

I need CPU, Mobo, RAM, Case (SSD?). I already bought the R9 290 and PSU back in June, I was told Id be bottlenecked on my current rig but just needed more power (it had 450w). Everything runs well, I can play Shadow of Mordor maxed at 60 without much issue. Awful airflow in the case is the biggest pain I have that I see the LEDs on the gpu start changing as it gets warmer.
So CPU this was recommend to me back before it came out and seems to be be the solid pick since I don't need the i7 that I was a noob and bought in 2010 and never utilized. CPU cooler Ive seen some people say is unnecessary unless I'm going to OC which I'm initially apprehensive about, but wouldn't mind grabbing for the hell of it/to be prepared. I think I saw a comment that it'll come with thermal paste as well? Not sure.
Mobo I picked after a night of trying to read as many reviews on newegg and toms hardware etc. also for it matching color of the r9 290. I'm absolutely not an expert and motherboards are the easily the one piece that I am not super informed on to know what to look for. I couldn't tell you exactly what pushed me towards this one since my research to pick it out was about two months ago.
RAM isn't too special, I had 1600 in there until about a week ago, Ive heard its not really a big deal to go 1866, for the extra 7ish bucks I figured Id just go with this. 8GB also seems fine, perhaps Ill throw in another 8 later, I don't see most people recommending higher unless streaming. rendering, etc. Also, it fits the color scheme. Lastly, I just wanted to go with Kingston due to their support towards esports, I see cheaper deals on other brands but I feel compelled to support them as a backer of my favorite entertainment.
Case, well I've read just about nothing but great things, Ive watched videos, gone back and forth of if I care about a window or not. Seems most people are happy with its stock fans. I found a former thread here of a guy going through many different fans on an R4. I did pick a couple out that are better via that post, but that I'm not too concerned with doing right now.
Finally SSD, I was fully prepared to wait, prices drop, but maybe Ill just get it (I do plan on at least getting through cyber Monday before I buy things at their average prices). Ill just say straight that I'm lazy. Having to take of the mobo to mount the SSD later is a step wards demotivating me. Plus limiting to 128/256 just hasn't been appealing, Id rather pay the extra hundred and have essentially all the games installed that I do now with room to spare. I had the 840Evo sitting in my list for weeks but recently changed via opinions here on speeds over time.
So thats my build. Black/Blue build for gaming, some streaming, and of course general use. Subtract the HDD, GPU, PSU at this moment I'm sitting at $810 with SSD, $610 without. This fits perfectly to afford everything as it is/cheaper with maybe a lucky sale on a piece or two. The extra 200 Id sorta/kinda rather not do right this second but as I said earlier, lazy and might as well just get it all set to build before Christmas.
Thanks for taking the time if you're reading this and especially for just existing as such a fantastic resource to ease back into researching parts.
