How to stop Brood mid?

Just finished a game as storm mid against brood, first one I've played against since her rework in the patch and I'm baffled. I just want to know how you can stop brood mid in this meta, I bought sentries and we traded killing sentries all laning phase until I lost it at like 5 minutes. My team had a shaker and void and we still were helpless. Brood was diving and getting kills like it was nothing, no sentries or dust could slow her down. We barely got kills when the entire team had to rotate but it created so much space for the other team that their PA took it from there. I've never felt so helpless in a match before and can't help but say that right now with all the buffs icefrog has given her that she is just imba as hell. Does anyone know what to do to fight back? dotabuff link: http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1070000640

For a hero with a 260 damage nuke every 3.5 seconds and AoE burst to follow, as well as an easy escape at level 6 that disjoints projectiles with no cooldown I find it hard to how you'd have trouble with a brood.

A good brood can handle a storm in my opinion.

She won't be pushing the tower though

Yeah she will, a brood ALWAYS pushes the tower. She just might not do it personally.

Maxing vortex didn't help. When you say you traded sentries, try putting your sentry on your high ground top step, not in the middle of the river. With overload and remnant getting priority over vortex. Use good creep control too.

You probably shouldnt ever max pull unless vs Weaver maybe. Max Overload all day.

You failed in skill build that game.

Level your remnant next time. Adapt your build to the game you're in, not the top rated in-game guide.

max your remnant. keep the lane pushed. keep farming like ur supposed to do at mid. sounds like u dont even know the fundamentals of going mid. the brood didnt even have any denies, i fail to see how you feel so powerless.

If you are going against a spiderling skill build brood, get a shield. Most of the damage will be blocked!

on a ranged hero??

Certainly not bad, I've heard about alot of people doing this vs brood lanes, if you feel its worthless maybe get a ring of protection and turn it to a basi later, you can always disassemble it for your orchid.

2
camocsproYajirobefromDC•

Ring of protection won't help you because broodlings do chaos damage. Only a shield will help you, but you are melee hero so it will only do 10 block.

However, all things aside storm spirit should have a good time mid against broodmother, if you take 1st and 3rd skill.

IMO u can call for roaming or just get 6 and leave the lane. U can't stop her from pushing your lane with Storm alone. Just let her get 2 tower then def high ground with ease. By the time she push your tower, u can go gank her teammates and push other lanes. Just bring a dust and TP to kill her if u got some farm in side lanes. Brood mid is not a good idea cuz she have not so much room to running around, dragging your people and create space for her teammates

Without looking at the game, what was your skill build up to lv 6?

Looke dat dotabuff.. should've skilled more into your aoe's to kill the spiderlings... would've been easy to stop her dive

1-3-1 I usually max vortex then overcharge, would a 1-2-2 have made that big of a difference?

-2
Phunwithscissorsimissthetimedimonwasrelevant•

Yeah only dendi maxes stun, it hurts your farm and lane pressence alot

If you have confidence that you can get alot of kills before orchid, or there is someone you can blow up in a stun like a weaver or drow it might be optimal but you need to be really efficient with overload hits.

ThumperLovesValve•

A 3-1-1-1 would.

In general 1-2-2 into 1-2-4 is better than 1-4-1. The most common build in high mmr games and the pro scene is 1-1-4, but if u like vortex you can take two points in it at levels 4 and 5 but maxing it that early is generally considered wrong and is definitely not good against brood.

1-2-2 would've been better though the most common build in high mmr games and the pro scene is currently 1-1-4, but if you really like vortex you can take two points in it at levels 4 and 5 and go 1-2-4-1 then put the 3rd point in at level 9. Also I do think it's worth noting that by looking at the guy's dotabuff I see that he spams brood so on his best hero he is probably just much better than you. Not that this helps but it does give a bit of a reason as to why he seemed so unstoppable to you.

uhhh against a brood you dont even need vortex, maybe a value point so you can kill at 6-7

seriously? As a storm you should have spent that sentry money on a Gem (after level 6) and spammed your static remnant to just eat her armies of golden spiderlings/ites. Also a single early gank is all you should need (if you still can't manage) and that won't hurt the laning too bad.

good broods rarely keep their spiders in lane. they always send them to the jungle so she gets twice the farm.

1
DrXenu•

Some do yes, but spiders are very strong presence in lane and allow you to easily secure early kills.

1
cybercobra2The grand magus•

ofcource. but if the hero you are up against has something that allows him to easely clear the spiders then you may be reluctant to do so, unless hes out of mana ofcource.

1
RatchetPo•

pretty sure that's an unwinnable lane without a direct counterpick + a sentry

he did use sentries.

DrXenu•

As a brood player she is an absolute monster when given a solo lane and senturies are easily removed by brood if you don't keep her baby count down. There is not much a single hero can do, but early game unless you have massive amounts of burst aoe then get dust and a shield to minimize the threat of babies, and remember brood is not only about pushing. She is a monster at diving towers due to babies.

There isn't much to do because once she gets her foothold then she needs a lot of attention to handle. Just try to have aoe heroes stop her push and play defensively and wait for her skill set to fall off in the late game.

Trust me I pub stomp with solo ranked games quite a bit with brood getting multiple kills and usually tier 2 around 8-15 min. If I played against as brood with my p play style then I know the only real thing to do is wait for late game with as little loss as possible, or go death ball the rest of their team and just make sure brood doesn't take rax.
