Secret Santa Gift?

Question

did anyone else not get their secret santa gift? i know that myself and a friend from Toronto as well didn't receive one and we gifted.

i was going to send my gift another gift to my secret santa (because i felt like everyone spent more) when i realized that...i didn't even know this person. all i got was an email and address...why didn't we even get usernames at least? the whole thing seemed pretty poorly planned.

Yup. I spent a decent amount on my gift. I'm the friend zoidd mentioned. So shipping from Toronto to California wasn't the cheapest. I have no idea if the gift arrived, as I did not see it posted nor do I know the username of who I sent it to.

I probably got shafted. Congratulations r/fgb. YOU RUINED CHRISTMAS!

UPDATE My secret santa just emailed me and said he shipped the gift on the 17th. So I guess it's just taking a while due to the holidays. Christmas is back on! Thank you to my secret santa!

That's a bummer! My secret santa crushed it (MASH Wool Socks and a Campy Cap).

I thought it was kind of strange that we didn't get user names.

Hopefully that'll change next year.

Spent a bit under $100 on my SS and haven't seen it or gotten anything. I was actually a bit more put off that he didn't post than I was that I didn't get anything. I was super jazzed that I got him everything on his list.

Yeah I didn't either. Pretty lame, but I can't say I'm surprised. I guess it's up to the coordinator to deal with it.

Luck of the draw. I've done 8 exchanges so far and was shafted once without notice, and another time through a "lost" package but gave my giftee the benefit of the doubt. Once you gather more experience you can spend more tokens you receive from each successful exchange to make sure you get someone who has completed the same amount as you. This is a really tough thing to organize, and was a lot better when it was smaller imo because there were less scumbags shafting people and the community followed the honor rule. That being said it's extremely difficult to handle this kind of thing, they probably don't want anyone who got shafted to have the info of the scumbag because that could lead to personal information and revenge.

i hear yah, i kind of figured this sort of thing would happen.

it wasn't through reddit gifts so there wasn't any tokens, just some guy doing a google form. i mean, obviously should have been supported/done by the mods but we know how that is.

oh well, i don't really mind. merry christmas!

Next time we should probably only allow people that are vetted on this subreddit to participate, as fucked up as it sounds. That way we won't get people hopping on the secret santa train that are just trying to get shit for free, and don't even post, or visit here often. I didn't participate because everything was so roughly put together, I knew this was bound to happen.

I still have no idea if my /fgb secret Santa received my gift because I haven't seen it posted here.

My actual secret Santa in reddit gifts never posted either. I've done it for three years not a single one posted. I won't be doing it again. Just doesn't seem worth it.

This entersub exchange was cool though.

I think in the future, participants should at least be told the username of who they got. Getting just an email and contact name isn't really enough.

Yeah I never got mine. It's my 3rd consecutive Reddit secret Santa that I haven't received a gift from. After two times of not receiving my gift from the main one I figured I'd have better luck moving to a smaller community. I guess not.

I was getting pretty doubtful but received mine yesterday so gifts are still coming in. Try to contact that dude TewChaeenz who organized it and find out who your gifter was, we can crucify him in a couple weeks if you don't get anything.

Participated in one online secret Santa many years ago, got shafted, haven't participated again.

Bought myself something nice and didn't have to deal with the headache.

Got my gift, and sent my gift out. I just feel bad, the person I sent a gift to did not even reply saying thank you or anything. I sent the person who got me my gift a little something back.

I sent my secret santa gift. They are in Canada and I'm in the US so i just hope it made it there. Still haven't relieved one from my secret santa :(

Didn't get anything. Also didn't know like ANYTHING about my giftee, and I didn't spend as much since I had no way to really personalize it to them. Kind of bummed. But that's how secret Santa kind of goes. :(
