How to get rid of your steam account in 60 mins.. Permanently..
For me, having a Steam account has always been the thing that has stopped me from giving up gaming as it makes it so easy to dive right in where you left off. Here is how I essentially rendered my account inaccessible:
1)Uninstall any games
-
Create a randomly generated email account on https://www.guerrillamail.com/ this account will be deleted after 60 minutes.
-
Click the copy to clipboard button in Guerrilla Mail to copy your randomly generated email account to the clipboard.
-
In Steam, click the steam menu at the top, then settings.
-
Click account settings.
-
Click change contact email address. You will have to re-enter your password, then paste your Guerrilla Email address in to the correct fields.
7)You will be asked for a verification code that was sent to the Guerrilla Email account. Copy and paste the verification code in to steam. Your email address on Steam will be changed.
-
Go back to account settings in Steam and click change password. You will be asked to re-enter your password and then an email will be sent to the Guerrilla email account. Copy and paste the verification code in to steam.
-
You will then be able to type in a new password, I recommend typing random characters in to notepad, and then copying and pasting them in to the password and confirm password text fields. Close notepad and complete the password change.
-
Exit steam and in approx 55 minutes your Guerrilla mail account will self destruct and you will not know your password to steam and be unable to recover by email.
-
No more steam!
Edit, as suggested by u/CloudHippie 12) Go outside to distance yourself from the computer so that you do not change your mind before the Guerrilla mail account self destructs. I also got an email from steam to my previous email address telling me how I can recover my account if I did not make the changes, make sure that you permanently delete this to avoid temptation.
