100 point game possible?

So after Klay's crazy third quarter, does anybody think that we will be to see a player actually break that record? With such an emphasis on 3s in the game now, I'm starting to think that we might actually see a player achieve it.

OFC its possible and not cause of Klay's 37 but Kobe's 81.

He went: 14, 12, 27, 28.

All it takes is 24 and 21 in the first half. Although you need to be a supreme athlete to get this done. Definitely a generational talent kind of thing

also most of the time, when someone has 50-60 points it's a blowout so they dont play in the 4th. melo couldve dropped 70-75 against charlotte, klay couldve had 65 last night, etc

Melo was gassed against CHA he wouldn't have put much more up before collapsing.

He was exhausted in the 4th. Melo was exhausted when he dropped 60.

Unless you are dropping in layups it seems to get pretty tiring to play at that level for longer than a quarter.

True, I forgot the fact that Wilt was a supreme athlete and the stamina needed to go all out for 4 quarters are insane.

once again,it makes me feel like, if there is anybody can make it,he must be a 3 point shooter on his hottest night

Durant/Harden would be the closest to achieving it I feel, especially with all the free throws they can earn.

I still stand by my view that Durant will score 85 at some point in his career

His teammates wanted him to play the 4th quarter. He knew if he kept making them, he'd have to play, so he missed the first shot of the 4th quarter and benched himself. I think if he kept plating he would have ended up with probably around 65.

Why would he do that?? Anyone else would rock it til the wheels fell off

He obviously didn't miss on purpose lol

Yeah lol, but it's nice to dream.

I bet Gilbert Arenas could have done it if he took every shot. T-Mac, as well, under the same circumstances. Both would have to be having a good shooting night, though.

problem is double teams. Like one game in college against davidson the other team decided to run a triangle & 2 and double Steph curry all night I think he only had 3 points but the team lost by 15... They would bring doubles any time a player started dominating untill he was forced to pass...

No coach wants to be the guy that gave up the 100+ point game lol...

That being said Hell yeah Agent zero coulda, same with T-mac but because of the shots they take they'd be fatigued by the time they got to 70-80

EDIT: Source for curry game stats, it was actually 30 lol

I think if Kevin Durant is really hot and goes past 3 overtimes then he has a chance of breaking it.

Players seem too concerned about FG% and efficiency. Kobe's 81 was 9 years ago. Also, the 100 point game came from Wilt Chamberlain who had a drastic physical advantage over opponents. I don't see that much of a separation among players in today's game.

Wilt Chamberlain?

You would need at minimun 35 FT attempts

So you're saying Harden has the best chance?

Haha honestly yes. He doesnt have a westbrook or a klay to take some shots away.

Although he does have a josh smith

I think the combination of having to be so on fire yet the game staying close enough to warrant keeping the player in as opposed to getting rest is slim. I don't really see anyone currently in the NBA doing it

2-3 overtimes would help

It has to be a perfect night. You have to come in extremely rested and play against an awful team. A Kevin Durant from that stretch last year could do it. He'd just have to make 15-20 3's and a looooot of free throws.
