The Cube Subreddit Rules and Updates - February 2015

Greetings, r/TheCube readers!

I'm combining a couple of posts into one here - rules, notes about the recent updates to the subreddit and your opinions on them, and the fact that the Cube map download is not yet out.

I'll start by asking you all what you think of the new updates, you can see the old style here and the new style here.

We specifically completely remastered the way that flairs work on the subreddit, we think they look better than before and aren't quite so obnoxious. The sidebar has also been simplified and now includes purely images that link to different wiki pages. The wiki is in very early stages and has barely been worked on, check back often for more content.

#The Cube Subreddit Rules

This isn't the YouTube comments section, the subreddit can be and is moderated.

General Rules:

  • Follow the Reddit rules.

  • Post titles must be as descriptive as possible; no one worded titles.

  • All posts must have a flair. You can click the flair button after posting - select the most appropriate.

  • Do not ask to join the Cube. The servers and events are invitation only.

  • No racism and no discrimination. This is a given, yet people are still extremely rude to other people. Racism can lead to a subreddit ban.

  • No hating on any of the members of the Cube - nor former members.

--

Posts that are encouraged:

  • All posts must be related to the Cube and the members of the series.

  • Suggestions and ideas for the Vanilla SMP that are unique to you - don't post the same thing that you just read on the front page.

  • Fan art related to the Cube is allowed, but if it is targeting one member directly, contact them separately.

  • Memes related directly to the Cube are allowed.

  • Questions about the series. If you don't know something and want to find it out, you are free to ask.

Posts that will be deleted:

  • Moderators have the right to delete any post they deem unnecessary or irrelevant, regardless of whether they apply with the rules.

  • Poll series will be deleted. You can post polls - as often as you wish, in fact. Just remember that if the poll situation gets out of hand, we will have to stop allowing them.

  • Any posts containing the non-public personal information of anyone, especially the Cube members.

  • Posts with one worded titles will, on a case by case basis, be removed.

  • Duplicate posts will be removed - you can't post about something that somebody else already posted about in the past few days.

  • Any posts containing spoilers without the spoiler tag will be removed.

When to downvote and when not to:

People tend to downvote just because they disagree with the post. This is not when you should downvote. The downvote button should only be used for posts that do not add to the subreddit or are duplicate posts that nobody wants.

You shouldn't downvote just because you dislike the OP (original poster) or don't like the sound of the post.

Official Cube members on Reddit:

#The Cube Polls Subreddit

/r/TheCubePolls has now been closed down and polls will now be allowed on the main subreddit once more. Depending on how it goes, this is how it will remain. The polls subreddit was never a good idea, splitting such a small community simply will not work.

Note that poll series are still not allowed, but you are allowed to post polls as often as you wish - within reason. If we think that polls are becoming a problem, we will take action; just not with an external subreddit next time.

#"I'm on mobile, things don't look right"

Maybe some things don't look very good on the subreddit now with very small screen resolutions. We'll fix that in the future but for now I'd recommend you get a Reddit mobile application - there are some great ones out there.

#Your Suggestions for our Subreddit

The most important part of the community is, of course, the people. The subreddit is for you, so ultimately you get the choice in what goes on.

Let us know in the comments below what you think of this change and what else you think we need to update. We will for sure update more things in the upcoming days and weeks, but this is the subreddit for the immediate future.

^^Thanks ^^to ^^fellow ^^moderators ^^/u/Aleturas ^^for ^^the ^^graphics ^^and ^^/u/Classic36 ^^for ^^creating ^^the ^^majority ^^of ^^the ^^wiki ^^to ^^cut ^^down ^^on ^^sidebar ^^mess.
