Admissions is there for YOU!
Hello,
I'm a Student Employee for my university's admissions office and I'm here with some tips for current applicants!
-
The staff are there for you three ways: at their office, over the phone, and by e-mail. These communication options exist solely for one reason - so you can contact us when needed. There are people whose only job is to take your questions, so utilize the service!
-
As long as you are polite, there are no silly questions. No one is going to flag your file after the phone call because you asked if your GPA was too low. Most colleges do notate on your file that you called, but this is actually a good thing. If anything goes wrong with your app, there is proof that you are an active and concerned applicant by reaching out to us. Active applicants get their problems solved faster :)
-
Counselors are knowledgeable individuals not only about the processes but about the school they represent. Are you wondering if the res halls are co-ed? Concerned about being able to bring your car as a freshman? An admissions counselor could answer both of those questions for you.

Don't be scared to reach out! Many employees of admissions are younger than you'd think and as such understand your current position. The person you'll talk to is likely mid-20's. In larger institutions, student employees manage the phones or the admissions e-mail address. We don't bite :)
