Diaper Genie Hack (x-post from BabyBumps and BeyondBaby)

Ok, so I no longer use the diaper genie for diapers, but the hack will still work and figure it may save you guys a headache. I got tired of buying the expensive refills. It was a pain in the butt to try to rig it like in the youtube videos trying to pull the loops in the holes or tie a pony tail around it and stuff it in. Well after not using it for a year, I wanted to use it for the kitty litter poop. I finally had the bright idea of using the command hooks upside down to hold the loops down. You just need to wrap the bag around the rim to keep it open. It will save money on refills, save you a lot of hassle, and help keep the smell down from dirty diapers. Works for kitty litter after kids are out of diapers if you have cats too. If the command hooks sticky part starts wearing off, I will use hot glue or super glue to keep them in place. This does require the trash bags with loops but they are still way cheaper than genie refills.

Welcome! Wish I had thought of it sooner. I wasn't the first to think of it. When I searched for it on pinterest, I did see 1 pin using this idea and it wasn't very visible. This is super easy to do compared to trying to use the empty rings. To remove just unhook loops, tie it off, slide through hole, open and remove.

Thanks! We use a Litter Locker we got as a gift and it uses the diaper genie bag thing too. Do you change the whole bag every garbage day?

No, I waited a few days to change it. I probably could have left it for the week. The bag was maybe a quarter full. It really has cut down on the smell in the house too. I just go to remember to scoop every day when I get home.
