Just received a bonus so looking for the right handset to buy outright - OnePlus One?
I've been reading around on here, and noticed an interesting option now I have a bit of cash to finance it. The most important thing for me is a phone free of crappy bloatware - it more than anything has ruined my previous phones.
The cheapest unlimited data deal with a decent phone (Samsung S5) would be £31 for 24 months. That makes it total in at £744. If I'm willing to throw down £270 on the handset, I think I can get the data I want for only £18 a month (microSim, right?), which would total only just over £700 for the same period, and get myself one of the OnePlus Ones. From the reviews, it sounds much less cluttered with the sort of bloat that I'm trying to avoid.
However, this would be the first cyanogen mod phone that I will have used. Will it just be like previous Samsungs, Sonys, etc in terms of using it like a phone, or should I just go for a mainstream flagship if I'm too used to that interface? Are there any major differences I should look out for if I do go for it?

Yes. The OnePlus One is perfect. Cyanogen is really easy and is essentially stock (base) android with no real bloatware. I've had zero issues with mine and almost every "issue" is solved with a reboot like any other phone. It is a great choice. If you have any more specific questions feel free to ask!
Thanks for the reply, sounds pretty positive! I'll get over my nerves and take the plunge! Was I right about just needing a sim only deal to go with it?
You will need a SIM card from your provider yes. Good luck! The phone is really great!
So I'm now four months into owning one, and you were right. It is a fantastic phone. The only issue I have is very occasional random resets, but since I am playing on it for several hours a day I expect the odd crash. Thanks for the recommendation.
I think the random restart is due to a heat issue. It happens to me when I run hearthstone or watch a ton of movies. I'm glad that you're happy with it mine is still running strong! I've had it for a year and 1 month now and looking forward to having it for another year or 2. I'm glad to hear back from someone that I recommended the phone to!
