Hey! /r/IndieDev had an idea about how to use dogecoin!
Hi shibes!
I moderate r/IndieDev! I'm excited about this, I talked to the mods and they're excited! It's still experimental and we are just organizing our thoughts, but here's our idea!
We are having a discussion on r/IndieDev about starting our own little Mix Tape where we make a package of games for the reddit community.
###Here's our mock-up of how that could look.
The games will be donationware, or more specifically the games are free, but there is a donation jar where people can tip the devs if they like what they see. u/dogetipbot makes this awesome because it's a direct way to support independent content providers with no middle man or fees.
#So what is this?
With all this talk about mix tapes, game jams and indie labels we were having for the past few days at r/IndieDev, I came up with a simple metaphor our idea that shows the gist of it.
It works like a street performance.
A game jam is like a music jam, an indie developer label is like a music label and what we have here is like a street performance with a free mix tape at the end.
The developers jam along in a thread and a passerby can throw a tip if they like what they see. But in the end there's also a little bundle of games to take with you home.
I hope you like this idea!
Cryptocurrencies are awesome because they make the process quick and transparent and it works well internationally. These are perfect conditions for a community-run project on reddit, especially since our developers are from all over the world!
I am thinking of a simple system for the first mix tape where we have an account (/u/IndieDevMixTape) with a dogecointip and changetip account collect donations and then we redistribute them back to the developers. All transaction happen in the comments so this should be transparent for anyone to see. I need your input! Is this okay?
And of course I just want to know if the r/dogecoin community would support us?
Also, one of the developers is unsure about cryptocurrencies in general because he lost some money using them. I asked the bitcoin community about that but I figured I should ask the dogecoin community as well! How can we make this easy but also safer now and in the future?
Thank you,
llehsadam
EDIT: Thanks for the tips!! No need, save it for the developers! It'll make their day!
