Mid 20's and planning to move to Fresno - How is it?

I currently live on the east coast and have wanted to move to Cali for a long time. I have a buddy that lives in Fresno so I figured I'd give it a try, but I know nothing about the city. I've heard from time to time that Fresno can be kind of boring for young professionals, but I never put much thought into those allegations. Can anyone give me some tips or advice here? I work from home so I can live anywhere with an internet connection, but I want to move to an active area with plenty of people my age to meet. How is the night life in the city? etc..
