(Spoilers All) A comment that suggests a certain someone definitely makes it through season 5
In the Oxford Interview here at 1:13:00 when they're discussing the phone call David and Dan have to make to the actors they've killed off, john Bradley mentions how worrying this is because they have just texted him to confirm his number.
Although the comment is joking, John says it did genuinely happen, which seems to suggest that Samwell does in fact make it through season 5. Why would an actor worry for the life of his character if he's already dead? Hopefully this helps put to rest the rumors that Sam is on the chopping block (literally or metaphorically) this season.

I haven't heard these rumors.
Did they have any substance to them, or were they just people suggesting that Sam might be one of the still-alive-in-the-books characters to die this season? I don't think there's any character who hasn't been suggested as a possibility by someone.
It's just that. Speculation.
As you rightly said, nobody knows who's getting knocked off, there's just a mess of names being thrown about.
There was no real evidence for any speculation beyond the fact that he fits the vague criteria for still alive book characters who could die on the show. I was just hoping to clarify that Sam is almost certainly safe this season.
