Where do you go to shoot?

Just wondering, what ranges do you all go to shoot? Why do you go to this range?

I typically head to Elk Neck shooting range but it's kind of a hike. I know Target master is right over the PA line too. I've been there, it's nice. But I'm trying to explore some ranges and get a better idea my options.

EDIT: Thank you all for your responses! I apparently have a lot more choices than I thought!

Apparently anywhere in wilmington should be ok.

I like the bridgeville rifle and pistol club, its the best place ive found to shoot. they have pistol ranges, action shooting pits, and numerous rifle ranges all the way out to 600 and 1000 yards. check their site out, it's a flat $75 a year plus you buy a $100 share of the range when you first join.

yep member here too, the pistol pits are probably my favorite. the 1000 yard range makes me want to buy something real big one of these days

Too many expensive hobbies to afford guns for 1000yds. I'll be happy with 300

I want to join. I looked at the website, and can't find out where to join. Sorry if I'm just being an idiot and can't see it. Is there a form I can print off and send in or something?

The site isn't very good at all, you can only renew your membership from it. What I did when I joined was look at their calendar for a day when there was an event and just show up, I went when the indoor pistol range was open but theres IDPA, cowboy action, etc. running all the time. they were very nice about me coming to join and they had plenty of forms there to fill out. When there isn't an event there's no range master on site, your membership card will open the front gate and you just coordinate with whoever else is on the range. There may be a better way to do it but I still haven't found it, this worked for me. Have fun shooting!

EDIT: I was rummaging around their site and found the email address [email protected] under their IDPA page, if you send them your question you may be able to set up a time to meet instead of showing up like I did.

Thank you! I was looking for a way to contact them. I'll definitely get up with them about joining. Thanks again.

I've been trying to find someone with a decent amount of land where we can go and shoot, but so far, no such luck.

Depends on what you're into. Wilmington Trap Association is great for trap and is right off of rt40.

In my opinion elk neck is worth the hike. I go to targetmaster if the weather is bad.

I used to have a membership at Targetmaster, but I don't really go there anymore.

My co-worker is a member at Brandywine Rod and Gun, so I usually shoot with him. You pretty much have to wait for someone to die to become a member.

Shotgun sports is my go to, I shoot at Ommelanden for trap/skeet/5-stand. I'm picking up an A300 on Friday and will probably shoot there on Saturday. They also have a pistol/rifle range, it's pretty cheap, $4.50 for 30 mins, it's pretty shady and terribly kept, but I just need somewhere to hang some paper anyway.

If you don't mind the drive downstate there's Owens Station for sporting clays.

If you're looking to have some fun and do casual competition steel pistol shooting, there's SLCFSA in PA, about an hour from Newark. They have it every last Saturday of the month.

I'm a member of Quinton Sportmen Club in New Jersey. I shoot clays and targets there.

I occasionally shoot sporting clays at M & M shooting preserve in Pennsville too.

Too risky to travel to NJ with firearms.

Cannot say enough good things about Ommeladen

I wish they would rig up pulleys or something to the targets so the range doesn't have to go cold. Or you know, actually fix the machines.

I don't mind rigging it up manually, but yeah I agree

Ommelanden. Sure it's not inside and very modern, but it's got a quaint charm. The rangemasters are all very professional and since its a state run facility safety is number 1 at all times.

Bridgeville gun club down south. Wide open to do what you want up to .50, no auto fire/slide fire. Up to 600yds

Pm me if interested
