Wondering about the intensity of my dreams

I often have very very detailed dreams, so detailed and intense that I remember them over years. I remember dreams from years ago, mostly the scenery and buildings, but some times plot and events.

Okay, i will cut to the chase, is this common? I haven't really been in anything to make these dreams a common place, but do others also have these types of dreams? So intense that they can tell a detailed story of what happened a week later? I could tell you a story but what is stopping me from telling you some bs, made up nonsense. They don't really go with anything I see or experience, no real outside forces affecting the inside. I've been wondering this for awhile as i started to dream like this while I was in junior high and am about to graduate HS, something common with puberty? I haven't had any friends that say they have dreams like me.

You're definitely not alone. I've always had pretty vivid dreams. My earliest memory I can recall is a dream I had when I was three or four. (About saving my mom from Bowser from the Mario games, haha. She was tied to a log going down a conveyor belt, lol.) I can remember the scenery, the voices, my emotions, facial expressions... Everything. The only other thing I remember from that point in my life is that I dressed as a Dalmatian for Halloween.

I can describe everything about my dreams better than I can describe what's going on around me when I'm awake, sometimes, even if my dreams don't make much sense.
