What UK funky bangers do you like?
I love it when you're at a house or techno night and funky gets dropped but I've never been to a proper funky night, there aren't any about where I live
It's almost the same scene as grime music, this is the only sub to get a decent thread going

Funky kind of passed me by, though the bits I've heard I like.

I never quite worked out exactly what made something UK Funky. Although apparently I like quite a lot the tunes, I just never got what it was that made it a specific genre in its own right. Kind of like the whole "deep" house issue right now

Yeah I just find it really hard to differentiate between it and funky house. We've got a habit of creating genres in the grey areas between other genres over here haven't we. I really like it.
funky house sounds a lot different it's more soul and disco samples. Think the main problem is a lot of people get confused between the genres and call them the same thing.
I've just never found the difference that quantifiable. Like, there's not really a structure, it's just, oh yeah it's a bit more soulful or what not.

Roska was always my favorite UK funky stuff. We actually brought him to Atlanta back in 2010 for a show.
