Honestly, for the laptops at least, when you get into similar specs the prices are not that different.

This is so true! When I was in the market for a new laptop last year I kept myself open and decided that I won't get a Mac per se but look at my options.

So I made a list of stuff I wanted to have. Not because I needed any of those but because I wanted them. That list included a backlit keyboard, a large touch pad and a well built, preferably aluminum case.

I found some offerings by HP and Samsung but non I found were below 1200€s back then. So I figured I might aswell grab the retina display on top of everything I wanted and get a Mac again.

Never regretted that decision.

Yeah, when it comes down to it +1000$ laptops its not pc vs mac for objective reasons, its all about which you like better (whether its youre used to it, you prefer the ecosystem, you work in x software, etc)

Why should buy a BMW coupe for so much money instead of just buying a cheaper Ford truck with better specs?

Because the quality (of both the Hardware & Software) is better. Because the ecosystem and integration is better. Because the service/warranty is better. Because the lifespan & resale value is better.

Why should I buy this filet mignon when I can buy a big bag of frozen chicken fingers at Walmart?

If you're buying a cheaper PC you'll get what you pay for. If you want a good PC you'll be paying around the same as a Mac anyway. It really comes down to which you prefer.

Not on the desktop side. Laptops there is no question, Macs are better (baseline at least, upgrading a MacBook is stupidly overpriced.) But a $2000 iMac comes with a 5400 RPM spinning hard drive. That's hilariously bad for 2009. The fact that that's still their baseline in 2015 is asinine.

No $2000 iMac comes with a 5400rpm drive.

All the 27"s have 7200rpm.

Define specs? A PC is not just about RAM, CPU and GPU.

Edit: It's about eyeglasses, apparently.

Specs (noun-plural): Informal Eyeglasses; spectacles.

Because the benefits of the device justify the higher price tag.

If that's not how you feel, then don't.

There is a 14 day return period though. Buy it, try it, don't like it get a refund.

Point us in the direction of what you consider to be a comparable desktop or laptop to an iMac, Mac Pro or MacBook (ignoring, of course, the cost that goes into developing OS X, iCloud and Apple's first-party apps).

Easiest answer is the OS. Second would be the quality of the build and the amazing support when something does go wrong.
