Not Netflix, but there is a fantastic channel on Youtube following the war week by week as it unfolded 100 years ago. There are also several specials about people, places, and other interesting factoids. Each episode is about 10 minutes, which is perfect for binge watching.
Yea I know about the Great War. I've been watching it for weeks it's fantastic. That's why I was looking for another series on Netflix.
Dan Carlin's Hardcore History podcasts are great. I'm sure you're posting this because he just finished up an excellent podcast series on WWI.
Generation War is a pretty cool German miniseries. It's interesting to see it from the other side's perspective. It's a drama, by the way.
It's also about WW 2, not 1.
Haha you're right. For some reason I remembered it as being set during the first war. Either way, it's a great show.
Yeah, this was a fantastic miniseries. I agree that it's interesting seeing it from another POV that differs from what we learned or perceive.
Beneath Hill 60 (2010) is an Australian WW1 film about sappers in underground warfare. About the detonation of the then worlds largest explosions as the lead-up to the opening of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Messines_%281917%29
It has a bit of a 'back home' side story but not too much of it. Well made with a decent cast, perhaps a bit too Australian in some of the dialog but not too bad, you can just use the subtitles if needed.

#### Battle of Messines (1917):
The Battle of Messines (7–14 June 1917) was an offensive conducted by the British [Second Army](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Army_(United_Kingdom\)), under the command of General Sir Herbert Plumer, on the [Western Front](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Front_(World_War_I\)) near the village of Messines in Belgian West Flanders during the First World War. The Nivelle offensive in April and May had failed to achieve its more ambitious aims, led to the demoralisation of French troops and the dislocation of the Anglo-French strategy for 1917. The offensive at Messines forced the Germans to move reserves to Flanders from the Arras and Aisne fronts, which relieved pressure on the French. The tactical objective of the attack at Messines was to capture the German defences on the ridge, which ran from Ploegsteert (Plugstreet) Wood in the south, through Messines and Wytschaete to Mt. Sorrel, to deprive the German 4th Army of the high ground south of Ypres. The ridge commanded the British defences and back areas further north, from which the British intended to conduct the "Northern Operation", to advance to Passchendaele Ridge, then capture the Belgian coast up to the Dutch frontier.

Gallipoli is a great WW1 flick if you can find it. Australian 1981
Our World War is a pretty average mini-series.
The World's War is a documentary about all the colonial troops that fought in Europe, lot's of white guilt, but interesting nonetheless.
Churchill's War (or Churchill's First War, I can't remember) follows him through his career in WWI.
If you like British comedy, season four of Blackadder is in the WWI setting.
I have a bit of a fascination with WWI.
Our World War was really good. I like the new approach to the documentaries different stations are making. Its more like a movie than the same old stock footage everyone has seen with someone narrating it. But also it does take away the real factor if you haven't seen any of the documentaries. I don't know if Netflix has it but "World War 1 in colour" was really good. I know youtube has all the episodes.
