Hey, I've been looking at the Ducati monster as my first big bike. Would you recommend? Also, where are you from? Sweet panigale! Cheers
From what I hear the monster is a great bike but will require a lot of time to maintain it. If you're savvy and don't mind putting the time in every so often its great.
Search this sub for ducati monster and there is a lot of discussion about it. Lots of more informed opinions about it than mine.

I know a couple people with old and new striples and I just don't like them. They're nice but they don't scream at me to buy buy buy. I also know the son/daughter of the guy that owns the triumph shop nearby and am confident I'd get discount off new purchase. My heart still screams Ducati monster or 2015 scout.. Big difference I know haha!
I'm in the same boat... I currently have a v-strom but my heart is begging me to add something with more character in addition. Don't know whether to go back to ducati, get an old honda, get a sumo, get a bonneville... the list goes on.
The scout looks good, I would have trouble choosing between that and a v-rod, probably I would get the scout just so im not riding a harley :P
I've not ridden either, MCN however recommend the Ducati Scrambler over the Monster everytime. Infact in this weeks paper they finish the article with predicting the end of the monster.
Its a fantastic first 'big' bike, it was mine after I passed and I have loved every second of it. It requires a lot of love because I ride mine year round but it pays off. Plenty of power for everything, at least until you are completely familiar with bikes. But as it is with everything its down to personal preference. I've heard the scrambler is an improvement but I haven't had time to get test one, try them both out and see what you think!

The 821 is an awesome engine.
I was hoping to get a monster 821 from new next year :) of corse like anyone with bikes, I have a few favourites that when the time comes I'll need to test ride! :)
Yeah test riding them is the best thing you can do. I really love the 821 in my hyper and the maintenance intervals aren't that bad either.
Fantastic photo and awesome bike. Although Baron Von has ruined it for me now and I expect Jizz Machine to written on it.
That licence plate is an abomination.
Legal requirement. Can't be any smaller.
Rest assured that I've shed a single tear for you.
Could be moved though, it doesn't need to hang off the end like that.
We can't have ours anywhere else, legally. has to be under the license plate-light, at the rear and unobstructed
Exactly. I don't mind, personally, as long as everyone is on the same page. Tail tidy is an absolute must though.
Technically true but you can get away with it in a lot of places. And it's not like they wouldn't have the money for a ticket, owning a Panigale and all.
That's with a tail tidy. Where else would it go? If you put it further in above the hugger you will get stopped and given 2 weeks to show up at a police station with an acceptable plate.
