What is the best way to keep a tent dry?

So I have been checking the forecast daily and it has been changing a lot, I know it will still change again before forest but right now it is calling for rain the first 2 days.

Every year I prepare for rain by bringing multiple tarps, putting them both below and above my tent. Fortunately last year it didn't rain until the last night but Monday morning my tent was soaked, Like a puddle of water under my air mattress in my tent.

If it were to rain like that on the first night all of my bedding would be wet for the rest of EF, so fellow foresters, what is the best advice for keeping a tent dry in case of rain?
