The solution to global poverty has been known for a long time. We were all just waiting for the right celebrity to charge enough for coffee. Bravo.
Or ya know http://justcoffee.coop/
Unfortunate as Laughing Man makes good coffee. I had a really wonderful Mocha Java brewed out of a Chemex at Bohemian on Great Jones. Hands down best restaurant and best pourover I've gotten.

Given that a huge percentage of the US market drinks Keurig (and probably won't be easily convinced to make the switch to other brew methods), wouldn't it be great Keurig could make a gradual switch to fair trade? I hate Keurig as much as the next guy, but I'd rather people drink fair trade than not.
It would be great.. if Fairtrade wasn't a labeling program that lacked demonstrable benefits to coffee growers, or those lower on the coffee supply chain.
Fair trade is a complex issue, Fairtrade is a labeling organization with wages to pay and a bottom line that relies on expanding certification and products with perceived value added.
Yeah, it is unfortunately a complicated issue, but isn't it a step in the right direction?
Its a step in the right direction but at this point i think its like going out to a hummer slapping a "hybrid" sticker on it and selling it like one.
I thought Fairtrade did have demonstrable benefits for coffee farm owners? It's known that the money doesn't trickle down to coffee farm workers, but the money has to go somewhere.

Haha, saw the same thing and it was like a record scratch in my brain. Affiliation with that brand makes me think that this is Keurig's idea more than Hugh's. THAT BEING SAID, us snobs well-informed about fair trade probably aren't the intended audience and if awareness of a potentially positive economic impact reaches the masses, everyone wins.
Especially Keurig.
