Can I just say that I think it is hilarious that some Sixers fans seriously prefer what our management was doing from '03-'13 over what Hinkie is doing now?

I know that basically everyone here shares the same view on Hinkie, but I really just needed to say that. Thanks.

Well considering Hinkie hasn't done anything to validate his stay here, yet. Yes I know everything he's done has been logical, and in the right step, ^however it hasn't panned out in any way shape or form. Embiid could suck, Saric could play average, and Russel or Mudiay, or Okafor don't pan out either and all our picks just suck. Our plan could end up in the same position, or worse than the sixers of 2005. It could end up with us winning a championship on the backs of the players I mentioned. However Hinkie has to show us that our picks can lead us out of the bottom of the league before his stay here can be any better than that of our previous leadership.

And the Sixers of 2005 had how many other teams' future draft picks? I think I count three (Miami, OKC, and LAL).

So no, it's not the same thing.

Right but most draft picks don't pan out. While the future is bright, it could very easily fail

That's why you need as many as possible.

Like I said I like the logic, I'm with Hinkie, however if we can't evaluate talent idc how many draft picks you have. That still has to be shown. He hasn't proven anything yet

It could. The thing is, they had been trying the same plan for 10-15 years and it never worked. Time to try something new. Sure, it might flop. But if you keep trying the same formula that never worked, you're a moron.

I mean I agree, but I wouldn't say it never worked. We got good players, just not a star

Which is Hinkie's point in this. You need a star. Period. We kept trading for old and/or broken players. That never worked.

Once you have one star, acquiring other pieces become easier to acquire.

We got jrue holiday, iggy, thad young, and Evan Turner and other good role players which still had to be shown in Hinkie

As much as I hate to say it, this is true. You can tell me anything you like but until there's results Hinkie is no matter than anyone before him.

This logic is a bit odd:

  • Hinkie hasn't done anything to validate his stay
  • Everything he's done has been logical and in the right step

I'm saying be hasn't done anything of significance. Which is true. However you can't really judge him now

Well it's mostly some of the local media members I am talking about I guess. It's a minority, and sometimes a loud minority. Not to mention the national media seems to completely ignore the state of the Sixers before Hinkie. The Sixers fan base as a whole is pretty knowledgable I think, but there still are the some that truly think this.

It really is just the old school fans. They aren't found on internet discussions such as Reddit or LibertyBallers, but rather on the radio stations or at you local watering hole. Even though I don't understand the mentality, I can't really blame them, it's just a generation mindset. For example, take local radio host Jody Mac, who IMO is the most knowledgeable host when it comes to baseball. He calls what the Sixers are doing a "tankapalooza" and isn't behind it. I still value his opinion, even though I disagree with it.

that's a very excellent point--it's very much a generational difference.

I think it'd be cool if they continued with an ultra-tank: trade Noel and Embiid for even more future draft picks, stack them to the ceiling... nevermind, that's a terrible idea, and it would suck to watch.

Its not necessarily that they prefer the 03 to 13 management but that Hinkie hasn't really shown his hand yet and a lot of what he's done is simply acquire "assets" for the future. Too many of us remember too many shitty draft picks to be 100% secure in what he's doing. Personally I worry that he's just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic with no plan beyond " keep getting more draft pick and hope eventually we get that megastar" but he's like Chip Kelly in that 1 he marches to his own drummer and 2 he keeps his cards close to his vest. I know my issue is realm that im impatient as much as anything tho.

Im gonna get a lot of hate for this but the Philly fans are definitely a factor in why this town doesn't win a lot. We are sooo impatient and so afraid of trying anything new and put ridiculous standards on athletes. Part of it is the media and certainly we aren't the biggest factor.
