[Build Help] First PC Build: Need Help with Potential Part Swaps

USD$

Hey everyone, I posted a few days ago with a build a friend and myself are putting together as our first ever. Since then we've changed the case and a few components, and I would really appreciate all of your help looking it over for suggestions because we lack the experience. We tried to keep it ~$1000 (without peripherals) as well as thinking about some future performance. Thank you all in advance!

why the mixed ram? fix that. drop all the extra case fans. zero extra are needed.

Whoops, yea. I just realized I didn't save the part list when I fixed that last night. xD Thanks though. The fans are more for aesthetics tbh, otherwise I would just stick with all the stock ones.

I believe that case comes with three, so two extra won't exactly go to waste if you put those two reds up front for aesthetics and put the stock three on the "top" of the case or even two plus one on the side panel.

You plan on SLI in future? You can power that 970 with a lower wattage PSU at 500w or 550w and maybe get a better one. That case has great cable management as well so fully modular is not necessary but that's up to you.

are you planning on overclocking? No need for 16gb of ram. 8 are more than enough.

Not off the bat, and the addition of the second was in fact something I was thinking about taking out. Knowing that it's definitely unnecessary now, I'll totally remove it. Thanks (:

if you're not planning on overclocking you can get a i5 4460 and a Asrock B85 Pro4 board. The 4460 has the same performance as the 4690K (non- OC) and is way cheaper. Even if you would overclock the 4690k you would get about 2-3% more performance in games. This isn't worth the extra money imo

I'll definitely consider the switch once I look into it more. Although I may not overclock right away, I still want to have the potential to without having to replace some of the more expensive parts.
