On https://www.apple.com/icloud/family-sharing/, it says, that you can hide individual purchases. Though I've never tried it.
Yes you need to use family sharing. Yes you can hide specific apps, movies, etc. from being shared.
I wanted to do the family plan for Apple music but I was under the impression that with family sharing, everyone is required to use the same card. Is that true?
Yes, all charges go to one card.
Even if I use gift-cards? For example, I use Gift-Cards and my Dad uses his Credit card. Can I still buy apps etc on my account as is it without family sharing?
Good question, that I'm not sure about. All I know from experience is that when my wife or children make a purchase it goes to me. They don't have an opportunity to pay for it themselves.
If you load a gift card on an account though I'm not sure if this overrides that... hopefully someone else can confirm!
Ok, As the creator of the family (the family organizer) you agree to pay for everything with your payment method. If one of the family members is less than 18 years old you get a message on your device to verify the purchase. If the person who wants to purchase something got store credit on their account that will be used first.
So if for example your child has got store credit on his account that will be used first. If there is no store credit on the account you will be asked to verify the purchase.
