How bad can the reddit admins continue to run the show before the audience all leaves?

I understand there was about a 50/50 split of people pissed vs thrilled about the ban of FPH. However 2 default subreddits today went private after they fired Victoria who worked so hard to make AMA's a success. It just seems the admins have lost their way and while it may go out with a whimper instead of a bang it just doesn't seem they know what they are doing. To fire the person who handled one of the most popular features on reddit with no plan for succession implemented is just ludicrous.
