If you were a recruitable character in any FE game; how would you be recruited?
And why it should be Caeda?

And why it should be Caeda?

Wooed by Ephraim. I'm afraid it's the only way.
I'd have to be flashed by the other army's hot babes, preferably one of them dancer girls.
Aqua-style dancers or the sort with shoes on?
Take a guess.
Are you one of those foot fetish guys?
No way man, I'm the type of guy who likes regular old sex. You know, penis going in vagina. That's what I like. Nothing weird like gangbang/feet/bukkake/bdsm/latex etc
It's LostMyPassword , he's even beyond that

I'd probably just be a Mercenary for hire. Mercenaries are the best, after all.
Silent, Zeiss flair? I always knew you didn't like Ike that much.
Ike is still my favourite fictional character. I just decided to temporarily switch (Soren will be back within the week) in order to honour Zeiss, seeing as I'm currently playing FE6 and he's fucking shit up left and right.
Ah. Zeiss is legit, yes. I always found him to be a worse Miledy, but that's still good.
I'm on HM, where he's better than Milady when at the same level as her (however much favouritism that may require). Also my 20/9 Zeiss has 60 HP, 26 Str, 23 Skl/Def, and 22 Spd without any boosters. So, y'know. He's absolutely unstoppable.
I see you have accepted Fe6 as the best Fire emblem game.
Nope, FE10 is still best. It's just that I'm playing FE6 at the moment. Also, my response to u/WhatZitTooyah explains stuff.
You're tsundere for FE6 ^^^^^^andsevera
I like Severa :(
I'm not tsundere for FE6; that implies I pretend to not like it. This recent play through rocketed it up to 3rd favourite. It's just not Tellius levels, is all.
^^^^^FuckSevera,andnotinthehotway
Naw, then the doucebags might hire my company and I'll have to be a red unit.
^^^^^^Also.hooray.for.confusing.people.with.flairs
Man i know and it still feels odd to see lol
I would be an annoying unit that can only be recuited by a weaponless npc villager because I want people to cry on my chapter.
The objective of the chapter is defeat boss. I am standing next to the boss (who has a ranged weapon), and I can only be recruited by a dancer.
Just use Rescue?
I'd be a green unit.
"Oh shit, a battle. I'd better get out of here."
Each turn, I move closer to an escape point. To recruit me, just have the girl I have personal history with talk to me (whoever the Neimi is to my Colm).
"You joined a fucking ARMY? Are you trying to get yourself killed? Damn it, now I'm gonna have to join too. You need someone to watch your back."
If I weren't Marth, I'd be a Mercenary who joins if any Pegasus Knight talks to him
Especially the ones that asks you about love; those give the worst blue balls blue.
I'd be the silly little thief you find snitching things =P....who you then proceed to tell to steel everything with no regards for property
So...Cath?
pretty much
It I have to talk to you three times then I'm out.
lol well that'd be a bit unfortunate. I'd have to keep showing up then lol.
I'm thinking Shinon-style recruitment bullshit (PoR). So talk to me with one character, beat me half to death with another. Maybe even combine that with the ridiculousness that is recruiting Stefan: Stand on a particular tile with a particular character, get attacked by a Wyvern Lord, talk to them with a different character, then kill them with your Lord. Then I only have a 10% chance of joining.
Yeah, I hate the player.
The lord would have to bribe me with candy. .... Turns out I'm Gaius.
Kill off all but 15 of your units
I'd want to be paid. A lot
So Volke?
This may sound somewhat irate and brutish, but hear me out, please. My character's recruitment would take place in Nintendo's first M-rated Fire Emblem title (not including the FExSMT crossover). During an early chapter, when the main party is going through villages and towns to recruit those still standing after war (for the purposes of vengeance and rebellion against the tyrannous crown), my character - a level 6 desert knight (yes, I just created a new class. Sue me) - would need to be engaged in conversation 3 times while fighting back brigands.
The first time would be by the main character (as expected), and he would call for me to bear arms. At this point I would inform him that I "no longer fight for any man, just or unjust, for I am a sinful man. I was trained to do whatever was necessary to extract information from the enemy - beat them, rape their wife, starve them, torture them... I won't ever lift a blade again so long as I live, if that's what forgiveness demands." The main character would insist that I can be forgiven, but I'd simply flee to another post on the map.
The second time, I'd need to be approached by a religious figure within the party, who assures me that any sin can be forgiven if I simply wish to repent of them and ask forgiveness. I would ponder for a moment, thank him or her for their kind words, but then return to my original space after saying that "my wife thinks of me as a monster... I would never have her forgiveness."
Lastly, approach my character with his wife - whom you recruited a few chapters back, and have her talk to me. She would forgive me, give me a kiss, and assure me that while she still fears me /and/ for me, she can and will forgive me and stay by my side. Then I join the fray. If I make it by chapter's end, I'll join. If I get the killing blow on the chapter boss (a former comrade who sees nothing wrong with the tactics we used in war and /still/ uses them), special dialogue will appear revealing the conviction of my forgiveness.
Thoughts? :)
My thoughts? Do crabs think that fish can fly
An interesting thought to have given the tone I was aiming for... o_o
That's a pretty darn well thought out recruitment. Quite an interesting take, not many people make use of the religious characters in these games in such a way. That would be interesting in its own right on its own. The rest, however, just makes your portrayal of yourself into a very tortured warrior who would undoubtedly have some pretty awesome supports.
Thank you very much. I try my hardest to weave complex social and psychosocial development into my narratives, because I find that they challenge readers/players to reflect on their own ideologies and beliefs as they read/play. This is why I included both the war criminal and the religious forgiveness angles. As a Christian, I find that too few games provoke spiritual thought or discussion, and the war criminal take came to mind as I was watching the news and learning about war criminals being forgiven of crimes in exchange for knowledge.
If Fire Emblem came to embrace deeper themes such as these, do you suppose that fans would be more drawn in, or pushed away?
In my case, I would be drawn deeper into the story. However, with the way that Fire Emblem is going, I'm feeling like story is going to be a little more limited compared to the fanservice and marriage segments of all future releases (which can still be a ton of fun). What it does do is it makes me really desire a new Tactics Ogre or Final Fantasy Tactics. Both games dealt with these themes quite well. As to whether it would draw more fans in or not? That's a tough question. There's people here who would be all over it for sure, but I'm not so sure if it would be what IS would need to keep the sales strong.
Very nice! What class is your wife, out of curiosity?
Thank you very much for the compliment, Aquaoi. :) The character of my wife would be a new class (like my own; introduced in a new, M-rated Fire Emblem title). Her class would be the gothica class, and as previously stated, I would be a desert knight. If your interest has been piqued by this proposition, I'd be delighted to describe for you what these classes would be like and a little of their backstory. :)
Excuse me, sir, but may I ask why you aren't writing for us?
I would love the opportunity! Please message me, at your earliest convenience!
I'd be found in a house, mending to the people wounded by a bandit attack. Falcon Knight that joins the Lord when visiting said village to defend it.
Whoops almost forgot mind, since I always liked the Lorenz archetype; I would be that old guy that is about to be executed for questioning his country's resolve. Then the Pegasus Knight swoops in and dismounts on her ride and talked about foolish things like love. Pegasus Knights are Succubi incarnate.
I would be an Archer/Sniper that is recruited in the same way Devdan is recruited in PoR.
except you do it for the lolis
well that is how you recruit him
he does it because he likes kids, I think
exactly
A Crappy character that would only appear in a "new game plus" kind of mode, in a special gaiden chapter and have to be talked to by another unlockable character. You would also have to pay like 75% of your current gold for me to join you.
You would still get me, right ? /grinwink
I would be that knight who immediately joins you the first/second chapter. I would also get only 2 lines of dialogue in the main story
It'll be either like Florina or Farnia. Either I get recruited by me lesbian friend and rekt stuff for her or I get paid lots of money and be a decent PegKnight.
Offer free food It's the surefire way for me to join other groups
Probably start off as an enemy. Probably would go down like this:
Me: Hey Hans....are we the baddies?
Hans: Of course not! We are soldiers of the Grado EMPIRE and those Renais dogs dare attack US ON OUR LAND?!?! They are the baddies!
Me: Yea but......their Lord seems to care for his men, I mean the Prince-ling is even fighting side by side by them. While Gheb just sits on that chair all day, giggling to himself in that creepy way while we are here standing in one place 24/7.
Hans: General Gheb is an outstanding soldier of the Grado Empire and YOU SHOULD FEEL HONOURED TO SERVE UNDER HIM! THIS SOUNDS LIKE HERESY MONKYSEEMONKYDO! DO YOU WANT TO BE EXECUTED FOR TREASON?!?!
Me: BUT THEY DONT EVEN PAY US! AND ALL WE HAVE TO EAT IS MUTTON!
HANS: MUTTON IS DELICIOUS!
ME: GRUMBLE GRUMBLE
Then basically just talk to me and I would be like:
Me: Hi there! Need a fighter?
Ephraim: Naw, already benched Garcia and training Ross to be Berserker.
Me:......oh.....
Ephraim: But it seems like you have a unique character info, might as well add you to the collecti....er....team.
Me: yaaaaay!
Then I would totally beat the crap out of Hans before being stripped of my hand axe and benched.
This is beautiful; now please do a battle convo between Hans and he better be poisoned by that mutton.
Hans: AHA, SO YOU HAVE JOINED THE ACCURSED BLUUUUUUES! TRAITOR! I REJOICE THAT I SHALL BE THE ONE TO STRIKE YOU DOWN ^^^^and ^^^^get ^^^^your ^^^^serving ^^^^of ^^^^Mutton !
Me: Oh I am going to thoroughly enjoy this... prepares to throw handaxe
Hans: GIVE ME YOUR BEST SHOT SCU....wuh....wuht...WUHT IN THE NAMES OF THE SACRED STONES IS THAT?!??! AYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAaaaaarrrrggghhhhh.....
I turn around to see Seth in his glorious splendor just steam rolling through the enemy units. Piercing a knight with his lance then throwing it to impale an archer (yes with the knight still skewered on it). Then breaking the neck of solider with a swift kick, grabbing his javelin from his dead hands and throws it in such a way that pins 3 mages to the wall in a row. Seth and his war horse tramples Hans right in front of me leaving nothing but a puddle of gore and blood. Ephraim and his crew strolls through the carnage that Seth leaves in his wake. The prince winks at me and whispers
Ephraim: ^^^Now ^^^thats ^^^strategy.
As I watch them make their way to my former commander's chamber, I lay a side of mutton besides what is left of Hans' because even though he was a dick, anyone who got this fucked over deserves some pity. I shoulder my axe and trot along after my new buddies, a bit relieved that I joined the right team.
"We have skulls on out caps..."
