As of July 1, 2015, citizens of Chicago who enjoy their Netflix, Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Prime, Xbox Live, and/or PlayStation Network subscriptions are now subject to the city’s 9 percent “Amusement Tax” for the privilege.

In the thread about this in r/technology, the consensus was that this tax would be overturned in court eventually, but it would probably take a while.
To what extent does that consensus line up with the city of Chicago's? According to lot of Reddit users, even basic taxes are seen as tantamount to oppressive socialism.
I, for one, could really care less if people get taxed for all of this mindless entertainment trash. Maybe it'll make a handful of these services' dipshit consumers realize that they can just go to their local libraries and access tons of higher-quality entertainment for free...maybe not the oh-so-important video games, but oh well...
You mean they can read books instead of movies_right? You know some people hate books and hate reading books?
Every library I've been to in the past ten years loans out DVDs and a few are even risky enough to loan out video games.
