A couple cool updates to the new AutoTools plugin
The new AutoApps "AutoTools" alpha plugin started with some advanced Regex and JSON parsing functions. It's now being expanded to include some great other Tools where you usually go "I wish Tasker could easily do..."
One is AutoTools > Text which can pad a digit/character to the left or right of a string up to a pre-determined number of places. So:
7 can become 007
Month July (7) and 5th day (5) will always be 07 and 05
Also of you want a certain number of decimal places right / left of a decimal:
.056 can be shown as .056000 so that it lines up with .05607 which would become .056070 i.e. both would extend 6 places out past the decimal:
.056070
.056000
For any Math aficionados - you can specify Charateristic/Mantissa beyond Tasker's basic integer values.
Even more useful - AutoTools > Text also has a Monetize/Currency function. Whereby:
When doing math of dollars/cents Tasker usually returns a result like 1256.6
Which can now transform into:
$1,256.60
without any other Actions needed.
This helps overcome the fact that there is no Variable Convert > To Currency built-in Tasker Action, which previously would have you ading comma's and zeros using several separate Actions.
Another new feature is AutoTools > Vibration
Whereby you can create any Vibration Pattern you'd like, simply by Tapping it on the Screen! You can run the vibration immediately in the existing Task, and/or, save the new Vibration Pattern to variable (local or Global) for use later in that Task or in another Task.
I think this is a great Tool and huge improvement over Tasker's default 'Vibrate Pattern' Action - where the only entry method is a Text Field where you enter a series of pattern numbers. Anyone who's ever tried to create a unique vibration pattern by trying to type or look at 100,200,100,100,400,200 knows how difficult Tasker's default Vibrate Pattern can be. And this plugin feature resolves the whole issue.
If anyone has cool ideas for say text manipulation that Tasker lacks a builtin function for, or requires far too many Actions to accomplish something that should be simple - feel free to post them here :)
