How to deal with treating mortal wounds? 5e Forgotten realms (Kinda).
I'm a newbie DM using 5th edition and based loosely on forgotten realms. I want to add a bit of mortality to my campaign, but everyone and their mothers has healing potions and magical spells. "Oh, Joe the dwarf has multiple organ failures from being hit with a morning star to the abdomen, here let my bard song put you back together."
I don't want to treat healing abilities as panacea, unless cast by a high level being. I've decided that healing potions would not fully heal things like broken bones and organ failure, should the same apply to low level spells? Where should the cutoff be?
