Cat distressed from soft E-collar

My cat (just a little over a year old) started licking and biting all around her last claw on her inner front paw. The area started to bleed a little and became inflamed as well as all fur came off. Luckily, I took her to the vet before she got it infected. However, she is now in a soft E-collar and it has made her very distressed. And of course she is now giving me the sad eyes (and some angry looks mixed in). I am a total sucker and feel so guilty for this even though I know she needs it.

Just wondering if anyone had any tips for making their cats more comfortable with the collars? Or if they get use to it after a little bit?
