That kid whose photo got featured in the recent SONA

Here's the original article written by the kid who got featured in the latest SONA: http://www.rappler.com/move-ph/ispeak/101150-dear-pnoy-sona-photo

I like his optimism and idealism. He kinda reminds me of my brother. Maybe millenials (classified as being born between 1980's to 2000's) really think the Philippines has a good chance of actually righting the ship.

I am a millenial, and I gave up a long time ago. That's why I took the first opportunity to get the hell outta dodge. My brother isn't ready to do the same. What's really funny about the article is that the dude is actually gonna take his Master's....in the States. Gonna be real interesting what he thinks after he lives at least two years there. On the other hand, he may already have a US Passport (his name sounds like he came from a wealthy family). Nigga, you're basically admitting that the education system sucks.

Which brings me to my next point. A lot of people say all these things but they lose credibility to me when they have an "out." An example is that radio DJ who stirs up a lot of controversy. Dude's got an American passport, does his Filipino radio show from his comfy house in the States, and says he's a proud Filipino and he believes in Filipinos and the Philippines. Well he's half-right, since he has a Filipino passport as well I think.

It's easy to gas up the idea of pride in your country when you have an exit strategy. It's one thing to instill hope, it's another to instill hope while having one foot out the door in case shit falls apart.

Well there might be change incoming, but definitely not in my lifetime. As long as those voters who vote for an impeached ex-president to be president AGAIN, or those who vote a blatantly corrupt family into various positions exist, there is no hope. Come to think of it, it's really hard to blame someone for having an exit strategy. Just don't delude the minds of those who don't.
