My 37-year-old cousin is battling Septic Shock. He has already had both legs amputated and more surgeries on the way. Please help his family.

My cousin, Matthew Dumas is fighting for his life after a sudden infection. In the span of a few days, he went from a healthy father of three to undergoing multiple life saving surgeries and remains in critical care.

About 7 years ago, a drunk driver drove through his bedroom and landed on the bed, where Matt, his wife, and their baby were sleeping. It landed right on Matt's back. The driver then continued trying to drive, making his injuries worse. This caused him to lose his spleen and have trouble clotting blood.

Earlier this month, Matt felt weird pins and needles in his legs. He could tell something wasn't right, so his wife drove him to the hospital. Very rapidly, his internal organs began shutting down and he was diagnosed with Septic Shock. In the span of less than 12 hours, Matt was airlifted to a bigger hospital for emergency surgery he had a less than 10% chance of surviving. But he did.

Since then, he has had to have both of his legs removed. He is on constant dialysis and has had multiple surgeries on his stomach for holes that have been eaten in his GI tract. On Monday he has even more surgeries lined up.

Matt is the sole income provider for his family of 5. He has three children ages 13, 8, and 6. He has survived so much, and so far, is kicking this illnesses ass. But he has a long road to recovery. Dialysis for the foreseeable future, therapy for nerve damage in his arms, learning to work in a wheelchair and/or prosthetic legs, and that's just when he gets out of the hospital. However, we are unsure of when that will even be.

His family needs so much help. This was so sudden and unexpected. Nothing could have prepared us for this. Please help with whatever you can. Below is the GoFundMe page that is being run by my other cousin.

It would mean the world to all of us. Thank you.
