Was watching the Bungie "Conversations with Creators" episode and noticed something about character levels.

Discussion

Trying to keep this brief, in the Bungie episode of Conversations with Creators I saw this frame and was really caught off guard. The three characters he has are all at EXP level 30 and light levels in the 300-400 range... While this could very well just be Bungie messing with us it got me thinking about what their new ways for our characters to progress are.

It has been stated multiple times now by Deej and others at Bungie that The Taken King will have all new ways for our characters to grow and progress. One of these ways I could see them doing it is by removing the light level limit cap all together and just letting us run wild with progression in that regard. The balancing of all the encounters could be based around out EXP level now with it being a cap of 30 which we would achieve during the story missions of TTK, while maintaining out current light level and being able to continually grow that indefinitely after we've completed the end game content. So we begin on our way to level 30 through the story missions of TTK and eventually by the end or the campaign we are EXP level 30 and gain access to the end game content (Oryx raid, higher level Dreadnought missions, etc.) and then continue to grow our light level from 34 as something completely independent from our EXP level. We could continually unlock new upgrades for armor and continue to grow in light level with there not being any hard cap like there is now. Being a higher light level could grant you access to better resources in the Tower (ie. more difficult faction quest lines to keep us playing into then endgame) and more dangerous areas of the Dreadnought.

Just a thought, we could cap out somewhere reasonable like light level 50 and I'm just thinking too far into a Bungie troll, but hey, you never know.
