Problem syncing Gmail with Windows 10 Mail App.

Hey, I 'imported' my google account without issue, got the official sign-in screen and everything seemed to work fine on that end, but its not syncing my mail, it IS letting me send mail, but I don't get my unread messages or my 7 days of old messages I said to access at a time. Anyone else have this issue and get it to work? It's the only account I have, and I already tried deleting it and starting over. I use a local account to sign in after reading the privacy concerns now if that makes a difference.
