How do I backup my iPhone's photos to my PC?

I'm upgrading from a 4 to a 5 soon and since I have over 2000 photos if like to make sure they are backed up properly.

I don't want to use an internet based solution since I have crap internet and it would take about 16 hours to back them up probably

I have iOS 7.1.2 if that helps
