Sword and sandal?

I watched Hercules with The Rock on Netflix last night, and it was terrible. I assumed this going in so it wasn't much of a let down. It had some interesting ideas but the execution was done poorly.

Anyways, I was wondering if there was any sword and sandal books out there? I searched the subreddit but nothing came up except about the other recent Hercules movies, which I haven't seen but it's probably just as bad. I've never come across the genre in book form but have seen it a lot in TV/movies. My favorite film of this genre (although I guess technically it's historical fiction) is Gladiator. I also enjoyed Troy and the Mummy movies (except the third one). I started watching Spartacus on Netflix but it's so campy and over the top, lol. I haven't seen Rome but I hear it's really good?

tl;dr: Recs for sword and sandal books?
