Drowsy but awake!! It finally happened!!

Ladies, it finally happened. I fed him, he started fighting me when I tried to rock him, so I put him down in his crib. Awake, but drowsy. He squirmed, looked around, played with his lovey, but wasn't fussy... and finally (after a very poopy diaper and diaper change) he fell asleep. On his own. At 18lbs and quickly approaching 28", he was getting harder to contain when he "fought" sleep, and I was beginning to worry I'd have to rock and sway him to sleep until at least kindergarten. But I walked away, took a shower, and came back and he was asleep. What a relief. So to everyone rocking/bouncing/shushing their babies to sleep right now, thinking that this "awake but drowsy" bs is just a cruel myth... There is hope! And it might happen when you least expect it.
