So gay it hurts, but I'm never coming out to my family
High school student. Closeted-ish. I mostly just need to vent. For years, now, my parents have been giving me disapproving looks and making rude remarks about my appearance at every opportunity. Constantly telling me that I should wear dresses and makeup. The only conversation starter that my dad even knows is "are there any cute boys at school?". It's frustrating, but I can deal. College is right around the corner and I can't wait to get the hell outta Dodge and go be myself without worrying about facing my parent's extreme disapproval. They don't take kindly to people who don't fit the same mould as them so, naturally, there's no way in hell that I am ever going to come out to them. I don't really care if they would ever come around to the idea, I just want to keep them at a considerable arm's length. I know that their opinions don't matter, but their incessant comments have gotten to me over the years and I generally don't want to be near them.
My friends don't care. I'm not really "out" to them because I know that it wouldn't change anything and I've kind of implied it anyways. However, my parents disapprove of my friends so, sometimes my own self doubt makes me wonder if my parents are right and my friends really are bad people. I gotta get outta here! I'm just gonna keep my head down, get through HS, and then try to make up for all of these wasted years. End rant.
