Spaceship buying on a budget

I am currently flying a decently set up Cobra, a great ship that does everything you ask of it (she'll creak and groan, but that's part of her charm).

As it happens to every CMDR, you sometimes need to change things up a bit. I have 10 million credits and I want a new ship. Something capable of a bit of violence, but with a bit of space for the occasional smuggle or salvage. I thought I had narrowed it down to the Vulture, but with my available funds, I won't be able to fit it properly and still have some left for insurance.

What I could do is go for a Diamondback Scout and fix it up nicely.

So that is the dilemma: keep saving for a Vulture, or fit a DBS properly?
