Guardians taking scorch cannons and leaving the fight

Twice today, and several other times recently, I killed off the first wave of a wolf pack and another player ran in and grabbed one of the two scorch cannons and then left the area immediately. I don't mind fighting a wolf pack by myself but it pisses me off when players do that. Are others experiencing the same thing am I the only one to encounter this crappy behavior?
