Old grain and hops. Brew or compost?

I haven't brewed in 4 years and will be fitting up the old kettles again soon. I have lots of malt that's been stored in bags, some zip lock and some larger plastic bags with twisty ties. Its been stored in Rubbermaid containers in the basement. I also have some pellet hops that gave been in the freezer in a zip lock bag. So should I risk using the old ingredients or throw it on the compost pile and buy fresh?
